"If you want some accessible but informative insight into football then I suggest you couldn't do better than the Political Economy of Football website, which is not only intelligible but comes with the added bonus of being written by Addicks fan Wyn Grant."

American takeover at Bradford PA

One time Football League club Bradford Park Avenue are the latest Conference club to experience an American takeover.   Barrow and Alfreton Town already have investors from the US.

Dallas-based billionaire Gareth Roberts is a retired petroleum geologist who made his fortune in the oil industry.   He has bought the major shareholding from Bob Blackburn.  He grew up on the Holme Wood council estate in Bradford.   Last year he failed in an attempt to buy rugby league side Bradford Bulls.

He wants to give something back to his home city and says that his focus will be mainly on the community and less on pumping money into the playing budget.
