Hull owner attacks fans

It looks as if Hull City owner Aseem Allem has gone on a bit of a media offensive, granting interviews to broadsheets as he seeks to justify his daft plan to rename the club.  Unfortunately for him, it looks as if it might have all blown up in his face.

The first rule of such a campaign is don’t slag off your own fans.  However, Aseem has said of fans who unfurled a ‘Hull City till I die’ banner at a game that they can die as soon as they want to.  Charming and befitting a city of culture. What is more he has said that he will sell the club if the fans don’t accept his authority.

He has also managed to fall foul of David Conn in The Guardian which is not a hard thing to do where club owners are concerned.   However, Conn, who is a skilled writer with a clear world view makes some telling points against Aseem in a piece that came out a couple of weeks ago, albeit that some of them are own goals.

Conn has been tweeting on the subject today and getting a good response.   One point that has been made is that the Hull rugby league clubs resisted a similar name change.   All success to the Hull fans in their campaign.
