League may stop Bellamy transfer

The Football League have threatened not to register Craig Bellamy’s loan signing at Cardiff City unless they are given assurances by the Bluebirds about their ability to fund the deal.   Cardiff City have debts estimated at £30m and have missed a number of deadlines to pay tax bills.

The club is annoyed at the public nature of the League’s intervention, given that the information they will be required to provide is confidential.  It is thought that Manchester City will meet the bulk of Bellamy’s wages and Cardiff City has stated that the deal is underwritten by their Malaysian investors. However, the club has brought in a number of former Premiership players over the summer.
