One might argue that Bolton Wanderers represents an attractive proposition at a fire sale price, but the author’s argument rests on growth potential and Bolton are in area where there is a lot of competition from other clubs, not least the two top clubs in Manchester.   This also applies to London clubs.

There is a lot of repair work to be done at Leeds, both in terms of building the team and repairing relations with fans.   However, there is no doubt that Leeds as a regional capital has a claim to hosting a Premier League teams.

I am not convinced by the argument put forward that rebranding the Football League as the English Football League will attract investors.   Apart from upsetting Welsh sensibilities, it is not really a game changer in terms of image.
