Non-League day boosts attendances

Non-League day on September 5th saw the total number watching games in Steps 1 to 4 of the pyramid up almost 12 per cent up on the corresponding day last year with 5,965 extra attendees at 128 matches.    This gave a total of 56,678 compared to 50,607 at 128 games last year.   Perhaps a better comparison is with the last Saturday a full Step 1 to 4 non-league programme was played on August 22nd when 130 matches were attended by a total of 54,653.   This suggests that the number of extra fans brought in was around 4,000.

However, when England played Switzerland on Tuesday night attendances were down on last year.  The Ryman and Evo-Stik leagues were the only competitions at Step 1 to 4 to have comprehensive programmes last midweek and, compared to last year, attendances in all six divisions were down.  The six Evo-Stik Premier games were watched by an average of 369, 27 per cent less than the 508 who watched the preceding year.   Evo-Stik North attendances were down even more, falling by 42 per cent to just 132 and the Ryman Division South saw a fall of 41 per cent to an average of just 107.
