"If you want some accessible but informative insight into football then I suggest you couldn't do better than the Political Economy of Football website, which is not only intelligible but comes with the added bonus of being written by Addicks fan Wyn Grant."

Northampton Town set for foreign takeover

Northampton Town is a quintessentially Middle England club, but it looks set for a takeover by an Indian consortium as foreign investors reach into the lower levels of the Football League.

The precedent for Indian ownership at Blackburn Rovers was not initially a happy one and Cobblers fans have been expressing concerns on Twitter that the potential new owners seem more interested in the land than the football and securing promotion.   As well as the club, the new owners would take charge of the company that has the lease on the land scheduled for redevelopment around Sixfields.

Current chairman David Cardoza has been in charge for 12 years.
