Palace could survive relegation

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish is confident that the club can cope with relegation if they lose their battle to stay in the Championship.   My view is that, like last season, they will secure survival on the last day anyway.

Palace chairman Steve Parish told the Evening Standard, ‘Relegation obviously wouldn’t be great, but it certainly wouldn’t be terminal.  Financially, we have planned for every eventuality.  We don’t want to be playing League One football, but there would still be a club there for the community’.  Parish and his fellow consortium members rescued the South London club from possible oblivion last summer.

There are plans to build a new stadium in Crystal Palace and a fans’ led scheme to buy a new training ground for the club.   Parish commented, ‘Relegation would affect our plans as gates would go down and revenuw would be affected, but the new stadium and training ground are separate issues that would continue regardless.’
