"If you want some accessible but informative insight into football then I suggest you couldn't do better than the Political Economy of Football website, which is not only intelligible but comes with the added bonus of being written by Addicks fan Wyn Grant."

Portsmouth can cope with relegation

Portsmouth are confident that they will not be relegated from League 2 to the Conference, but should the worst happen they think they could cope financially.

Their attendances are currently higher than those they were recording when they were in the Championship and, if they were relegated, they would have the highest crowds ever seen in the Football Conference, beating those currently achieved by Luton Town.

Although there have been teething troubles and particular challenges, Pompey consider that their fan-based ownership model has been beneficial for the club.
