Portsmouth win court case

Portsmouth have won a crucial court case broug ht against them by Revenue and Customs challenging their Company Voluntary Arrangement.   The CVA can now go ahead and the club can prepare for the season.  If they had lost, there was a real risk of the club going out of business altogether.

Balram Chainrai, who owns the ground, was represented by his lawyer in the court.  The administrators say that they have one firm bidder for the club and it is thought to be him.  His lawyer was cautious when interviewed on Radio 5 after the judgement about whether further funds might be injected into the club.


The administrators have said that their investigations into the conduct of previous directors of the club are ongoing.


HM Revenue and Customs said that they will continue their battle against what they see as the preferential treatment given to football creditors through other court cases.
