Royalists face axe

It now looks increasingly likely that Windsor & Eton will be wound up in the High Court on Wednesday.  They will follow the likes of Ilkeston, Chester and King’s Lynn who have all closed in the last year, while Welling United is in danger.

It now looks increasingly likely that Windsor & Eton will be wound up in the High Court on Wednesday.  They will follow the likes of Ilkeston, Chester and King’s Lynn who have all closed in the last year, while Welling United is in danger.

Phoenix clubs have, however, formed at Chester and King’s Lynn as is likely at Ilkeston.  Welling’s ground is leased from the local council and is shared with Erith & Belvedere who built their own stand on one side of the pitch with the proceeds of the sale of their Belvedere ground.   Park View Road is also used by Charlton Athletic for second string games.

At Windsor & Eton plans for a Company Voluntary Arrangement fell apart after a disagreement between would-be rescuer and former director Kevin Stott and current chairman Peter Simpson.  With a blame game being conducted by both sides of the argument the fans have been caught in the middle.   The ground is leased from the Crown.
