Salisbury City demoted

Salisbury City have been demoted to the Conference South after they only cleared £75,000 of their £150,00 debts and failed to provide a required bond of £50,000.

However, the club claims that the real issue is the ownership of the club by mystery businessman Otail Touzar.   They are appealing against the Conference decision and seeking legal advice on taking out an injunction against the league.

Meanwhile, Touzar has been ‘banned’ from the club while an attempt is made to sort out the ownership issues.   Co-owner and supporter Mark Winter, who only has a two per cent stake, shelled out the £75,000 and feels that he has been made to look foolish.

Football seems to be a magent for individuals like Mr Touzar who turn out to be not all they seem. Quite what their motives might be is often unclear, although large egos often play a part.
