Saudi Arabian investors are reported to be targeting London clubs for takeover after it was decided to privatise the country’s national football league. Up to now most teams have been government owned, but a study from Deloitte recommended the change.
The idea is to build links with teams back in Saudi Arabia. No particular clubs have been mentioned, but those in the Premier League are unlikely to be available for sale or would be too expensive anyway. A Championship club would be ideal, although lower league clubs cannot be ruled out.
