Sporting Clube de Portugal - Sociedade Desportiva de Futebol, SAD, founded in 1906, is a general sports club based in Lisbon with more than 97,000 registered club members, although the football 'department' is clearly dominant across all of the sports disciplines in terms of budget and popularity. The club has won the Portuguese Liga 18 times, the Portuguese Cup 19 times and 1 European Cup Winners' Cup. Home matches are played at the Estádio José Alvalade (capacity: 50,080). The company (SAD) was admitted into the Portuguese Stock Exchange in 1998.
