The club is thinking of applying for planning permission for a 61,000 seater stadium which would be bigger than Arsenal’s Emirates. It could also be used for pop concerts and American football.
The club currently has planning permission for a 56,000 seater stadium. However, a fierce legal battle over land next to the Paxton Road end of White Hart Lane has not been resolved with the next hearing set for next month.

An appeal hearing in the High Court was adjourned at the last minute on Wednesday after it was argued that the decision to issue a purchase order for the site of Archway Sheet Metal Works was made on one basis, while the club had secret and different plans for the site which it had discussed with local government and transport providers. The government wanted more time to consider the new information which the club was ordered to hand over.
Police are still investigating the cause of a fire at the metal company in November.
