The takeover of Torquay United by a consortium of 10 local businessmen led by former striker Dean Edwards has at last been completed. Because of the uncertainty, only 57 season tickets have been sold for next season.

However, the new owners face a number of challenges.   The club has made a loss for the last seven seasons and the last figures show a loss of £542,724.   Despite pledges of new investment, it is likely that the playing budget will have to be tightened which will make securing promotion back to the Football League harder.
