Wimbledon stadium setback

AFC Wimbledon's plans for a new stadium at their historic home in Plough Lane have suffered a setback after the Greater London Authority decided to call in the planning approval and review it.   However, the club is confident that the plans will go ahead after some delay.

AFC Wimbledon and Galliard Homes, who were building over 600 new homes along with retail and commercial space and a leisure club as part of the development, were given the green light by Merton Council in December 2015.

This blog post suggests that the decision was influenced by electoral considerations and reflects a broader problem that football fans have in getting their voices heard.
