West Ham United boost capacity

West Ham United have decided to boost capacity at the Olympic Stadium from 54,000 to 60,000, such has been the demand for season tickets.

It will make the stadium the joint largest in London alongisde the Emirates.   It will also rank second in the country in terms of capacity, behind Old Trafford.

Wimbledon stadium setback

AFC Wimbledon's plans for a new stadium at their historic home in Plough Lane have suffered a setback after the Greater London Authority decided to call in the planning approval and review it.   However, the club is confident that the plans will go ahead after some delay.

Wrexham get their ground back

Wrexham FC have regained operational control of the Racecourse Ground.   Wrexham Glyndwr University will retain ownership, but have offered a 99-year lease to the Supporters' Trust which will give them greater opportunities to stage conferences and events.    The deal does not cover the Colliers Park training ground at Gresford.

Chelsea and Spurs closer to Wembley ground share

It looks as if a deal can be concluded for Chelsea and Spurs to ground share at Wembley.  It will mean more international matches being played away from Wembley and fewer music concerts there.  Chelsea would need to be there for three years and Spurs for one year.

Chelsea are thought to have agreed a deal worth £20m a season.    With a similar deal for Spurs, the FA would stand to make a total of £80m.   Last year events at the stadium generated £83m.

Millwall development threat

Millwall will continue to fight to safeguard their future after a decision on whether land around The Den would be sold to property developers was delayed last week.  Lewisham Council was due to discuss compulsory purchase orders on Wednesday, but a decision was deferred and a legal investigation will now take place.

If the deal eventually goes through, land which includes the club's car park would become privately owned by a property development company, Renewal.   Millwall currently lease the land.

Everton deal moves closer

With due diligence undertaken, a £200m takeover of Everton could be completed in the next few weeks.  It is understood that the pace of talks has picked up.   Two China-based investors are also interested, but they have made much less progress.

The club has emphasised that the construction of a new stadium nearby in Walton Hall Park will depend as much on a partnership with the city council as outside investment.

Stadium move for Torquay?

Torquay United are considering a move to an out of town stadium after the local council confirmed that Plainmoor was needed for housing.   Talks are taking place with an American firm that would see the company pay for a new 6,000 capacity home in exchange for the land.

Torquay were on the brink of closure last summer and are currently in the relegation positions in the National League.

Liverpool fans disappointed by new ticket pricing structure

Liverpool fans are disappointed by a new ticket pricing structure at the club.  As well as the outcome, fan groups are dissatisfied with the process by which the decision was taken.   They consider that there was insufficient consultation with fans over a decision taken in Boston.

Stadium loan was misappropriated

Pope's team is coming home
